Anne Keothavong failed to qualify for the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami after a disappointing straight-sets defeat to Anastasia Pivovarova.

The British No. 2 started brightly as she pressured the Russian, but after narrowly losing the first set of the qualifier she crumbled completely as Pivovarova cruised to victory - winning 6-4 6-0.

Keothavong was undone by her serve, as she held only three of her eight service games and committed five double faults at inopportune moments. Only managing a solitary break of her own in the first set as her opponent limited her unforced errors, defeat looked inevitable long before the match was completed in 74 minutes.

Jelena Dokic was among the most high-profile names to qualify for the first round of the tournament on Monday, although she needed three sets to finally see off Germany's Tatjana Malek 5-7 6-3 6-4.
