British youngster Heather Watson insists she will not rush into appointing a new coach.

The former US Open junior champion split with Billy Wilkinson last week, having climbed to No. 123 in the world rankings after quarter-final appearances in Auckland and Memphis.

The 18-year-old, who lost her opening match against Ayumi Morita in Miami on Tuesday, will continue to be based in Florida and intends to travel with her parents.

She insists her split from Wilkinson was amicable, and has no intention of appointing a replacement immediately.

"It was fine with Billy," Watson told The Telegraph. "I just thought that I had got everything I needed from him, and that we had taken it as far as we could.

"I'm in no rush to appoint a new coach, although I will be keeping my eyes open. I'm still based at the Nick Bollettieri Academy in Florida and I'm working with people there, so it's just that I don't have a travelling coach anymore."
