Sony Ericsson Open seedings

Elena Baltacha was unable to reproduce her gutsy opening round victory as she fell in straight sets to Klara Zakopalova at the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami.

The British No. 1, who came from behind to battle past Sybille Bammer in the first round, failed to improve on last year's second round appearance as she fell 7-6(4) 6-3 to the No. 32 seed.

After losing the opening set on a tiebreak after two breaks of serve apiece, Baltacha soon found herself on the back foot in the second set, only to claw her way back into the contest after breaking her opponent in the seventh game.

Serving to level the scores at 4-4, she failed to hang onto her serve and Zakopalova made no mistake as she served out the match to book her place in the third round, and a clash against sixth seed Jelena Jankovic who cruised past Monica Niculescu.

Top seed Caroline Wozniacki built on her win at Indian Wells, but she was pushed hard in securing a 6-2 7-5 win over Bethanie Mattek-Sands.

Sam Stosur had too much power for Jie Zheng, as the Australian breezed into round three with a 6-2 6-1 win.

The first major seed to topple was Shahar Peer, who looked well short of her best in a 6-2 6-2 defeat to Anabel Medina Garrigues. The 11th seed Svetlana Kuznetsova had no troouble beating Simona Halep 6-0 6-4.
