Ferrero wins back-to-back titles

Juan Carlos Ferrero became the second player to win two titles this season by taking out the Copa Telmex in Buenos Aires on Sunday.
David Ferrer was runner up in a tight final between the top two seeds, two Spaniards and two veterans of the ATP Tour, with Ferrero winning 5-7 6-4 6-3 to follow up his triumph a week ago at the Brasil Open.
The final was the 10th straight win for 30-year-old Ferrero, who is in dominating form on his favoured clay surface.
"I feel unbelievable after winning two weeks in a row," said Ferrero. "It is a great feeling. I think the key to my current success is the physical work I have done. I have been working very hard and I know that I can be on the court forever. That helps my game a lot because I get to the ball much earlier and can be more aggressive.
"This also helps me mentally. I feel very strong and know that I have more resources now when playing important points. I have been working with a friend on the mental aspect and all is coming into place. My goal is to get back to the Top 10. This victory makes me believe in this goal."
Ferrer was right in the match, breaking in the opening game and 11th game to push ahead and serve out the first 7-5. The world No.19 dropped a single break to concede the second but after the players traded early breaks in the third, it was anybody's game. Ferrer's 5-1 head-to-head record may have given him the mental edge but it was red-hot Ferrero who stepped up his game, made his shots and clinched the win.
Ferrer said: "It was a great match with a very high level of tennis from both sides. Each time we play we know we are going to play with a lot of rhythm and whoever is in better shape takes the match. It was very intense and we both had our chances. In the third set he played much more aggressively than I did and that made a difference in the important points."
