Novak Djokovic overcame a second set injury scare to continue his impressive unbeaten streak in 2011 and win the Serbia Open.

The Serbian delighted a supportive home crowd with victory over Feliciano Lopez, but it wasn't without a few scares - Djokovic needing a tie-break to win the first set before needing a few minutes to recover from a serious-looking fall on the damp and greasy clay in the second.

Nevertheless, the world No. 2 persevered, eventually securing a 7-6(4) 6-2 triumph in just shy of two hours.

"You people make it worth it to come back to this city and play and hope for the victories," Djokovic said.

Despite an 80% percentage on his first serve Djokovic was not in control throughout, offering Lopez seven break opportunities that he failed to capitalise upon. The Spaniard, in contrast, only relinquished four break points on his serve in the entire game - but two of them were taken in the second stanza as Djokovic closed out the win.

Juan Martin del Potro cruised to victory at the Estoril Open, seeing off Fernando Verdasco in straight sets to secure his second ATP Tour title of the year and ninth of his career.

Del Potro - the 2009 US Open champion, who is still trying to return to his former level after a long-term injury - simply had too much class for his opponent on Sunday afternoon.

The Argentine managed to be broken just once while finding five breaks of his own as he rode a high first-serve percentage to an emphatic 6-2 6-2 triumph over the No. 2 seed.

Del Potro has now won 23 of his last 26 matches. He won the Delray Beach Tennis Championships earlier in the year.

Elsewhere, Nikolay Davydenko took victory at the BMW Open in Munich after a three-set win over Florian Mayer.

The Russian entered the final as the lower seeded of the two men - seven to Mayer's five - but he nevertheless took the first set with some breathing space after securing the only break. But Mayer turned the tables in the second stanza, forcing the final into a decider, but Davydenko's class eventually told as he romped towards victory, eventually clinching a 6-3 3-6 6-1 success.

It was Davydenko's second triumph in the event, after also winning the crown seven years ago - leaving Mayer to rue what could have been in front of a supportive home crowd.

Meanwhile, in the first round of the Madrid Open, there were wins for Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Santiago Giraldo and Guillermo Garcia-Lopez - who beat Nicolas Almagro, Alexandr Dolgopolov and Stanislas Wawrinka respectively.
