Stosur strolls into second round

Keep up to date with all the latest scores and updates from the French Open
Sam Stosur kicked off her French Open campaign with a comfortable victory over Iveta Benesova at Roland Garros.
Last year's runner-up, beaten in the final by Francesca Schiavone, was handed the honour of opening proceedings on Court Philippe Chatrier, and the Australian showed no signs of nerves as she eased to a 6-2 6-3 victory.
The No. 8 seed was broken in her opening game, but never looked in any real danger as she powered to victory in 68 minutes. She will now meet teenager Simona Halep in the second round, after the Romanian stunned Alla Kudryavtseva 6-2 6-1.
Stosur beat former world No. 1 Jelena Jankovic in last year's semi-finals, and the pair could meet at the same stage this year after the No. 10 seed safely navigated her way into round two.
The Serb, who has reached the semi-finals three times in the last four years, faced little resistance as she claimed a 13th career victory against Alona Bondarenko. Jankovic wasted two break points before finally snatching the lead in the opening set, and sealed a 6-3 6-1 victory.
Former French Open champion Svetlana Kuznetsova moved into the second round with a comfortable 6-2 6-3 victory over Magdalena Rybarikova, while Bethanie Mattek-Sands' impressive form continued as the American battled from a set down to beat clay-court specialist Arantxa Parra Santona 2-6 7-6(5) 6-3.
World No. 85 Varvara Lepchenko claimed the biggest victory of her career as she sent Flavia Pennetta crashing out. The Italian looked to have salvaged the situation after winning the second set to level the scores, but a double fault at match point epitomised her bad luck as she struggled against the American.
Julia Goerges showed no sign of nerves in front of the big crowd on Court Philippe Chatrier as she beat home favourite Mathilde Johansson in straight sets. Goerges will meet Lucie Safarova in the second round after the Czech thrashed Kirsten Flipkens 6-1 6-1.
No. 14 seed Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova faced little resistance against Yaroslava Shvedova as the Russian claimed a 7-5 6-3 victory, but Shahar Peer was the first seed to fall as she was dumped out by Spain's Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez 7-6(4) 6-1.
Tsvetana Pironkova will meet Gisela Dulko in the second round after the pair won their respective openers against Casey Dellacqua and Irina Falconi.
