Gulbis claims his first ATP Tour title in Florida

Ernests Gulbis defied the odds to defeat second seed Ivo Karlovic and claim his first career title at the Delray Beach Championships.

The 21-year-old Latvian - a heavy underdog pre-match - eased past his Croatian opponent in 80 minutes, winning 6-2 6-3 in Florida.

Gulbis did not lose his serve in the match as he provided an assured performance that was in contrast to Karlovic's lax play. The world No. 31 won just 27% of the points on his second serve as he struggled to find the corners with his delivery.
