Roddick happy to show off his bare ankles

Andy Roddick's choice of socks has raised eyebrows at Queen's this week, but the former world No. 1 is delighted to have his ankles on show for the first time.
While British No. 1 Andy Murray has worn heavy strapping on both feet this week, Roddick is enjoying the freedom of playing without any protective braces. Although the American approves of Murray's decision to wear the supports, he would recommend that the Scot does not wear them long term.
"I was having foot problems in Miami," Roddick said. "I'd always worn two pairs of socks, braces, it was just heavy. Trust me, it wasn't a plan [to wear short socks].
"There was too much stuff going on in my feet. I'm sure the first time I sprain my ankle I'll be up in arms. Murray is smart to do it. They won't be on for ever."
Bidding to become the first man to win five titles at Queen's, Roddick admits he loves London and everything British, except cricket.
"I love getting up every morning and reading about the Royals," Roddick said. "[But] I have a problem calling anything where you have to wear formal pants a sport. I have a problem when you have to break for tea and with anything you can play for five days that ends in a tie."
