James Ward's stunning run at the AEGON Championships continued as he claimed the scalp of defending champion Sam Querrey to reach the quarter-finals at Queen's.

Having battled back from a set down to level the scores, bad light forced the players off court on Thursday evening - and when they returned on Friday after a lengthy rain delay in the morning, Ward claimed the all-important break for a 4-3 lead.

Serving for the match he faced break point, but he held his nerve to seal a 3-6 6-3 6-4 victory.

Ward will return to action later on Friday for his quarter-final against world No. 54 Adrian Mannarino, who beat Juan Martin del Potro in straights sets on Thursday.

Having already claimed the scalp of fourth seed Stanislas Wawrinka, Ward will fancy his chances against the Frenchman, and a win could pave the way for a dream semi-final against world No. 1 Rafael Nadal.
