Andy Murray shrugged off a shaky start to power past Daniel Gimeno-Traver into the second round at Wimbledon.
The British No. 1 kicked off his Wimbledon campaign with a victory, but it was not without a scare as the fourth seed found himself a set down against world No. 56.
Perhaps feeling the weight of British expectation, the Scot's emphatic performance at Queen's Club seven days previously was swiftly forgotten as the Spaniard took a surprise lead.
But Murray soon settled into his rhythm, winning 15 games on the bounce as he streaked away to a 4-6 6-3 6-0 6-0 victory on Centre Court.
With play commencing under the roof, Murray started tentatively, and despite a patient start was unable to find a way past the unpredictable Spaniard. Gimeno-Traver's aggressive tactics put the Scot on the back foot, and a couple of unforced errors handed the Spaniard the advantage.
Murray finally cracked the Spaniard's resistance late in the second set, clinching the all-important break before wrapping up the second set with his tenth ace of the match. A superb forehand passing shot set the tone for the third set as Murray grabbed an early break, and he never looked back as he powered away to victory.
Even a brief break in play when Gimeno-Traver called the trainer to attend to a knee problem could not halt Murray's charge, and a cheeky clipped cross-court winner sealed what was ultimately an emphatic win.
