Venus thrilled with win in Billie Jean King Cup

Venus Williams' winning run continued with her success in the Billie Jean King Cup at Madison Square Garden.
Williams' sister Serena sat out the event on account of a knee injury, leaving the path clear for Venus to secure a 6-4 3-6 7-5 win over Kim Clijsters in the final - following on from her tournament wins in Dubai and Acapulco.
Williams laid the foundations for victory with a strong showing in the first set which she wrapped up with an ace. Clijsters fought back to level the match and the final set was a tense affair, but Williams secured the break of serve and victory when Clijsters drove a backhand over the baseline.
"Right now, I feel like I'm playing with the most experience I've obviously ever had in my career and I'm still very much at the top of my game," Williams said. "So I see myself doing very well at the majors, and when I go to the majors, I go to win."
The defeat, and earlier win over Ana Ivanovic in the one-set semi-finals, will be ideal preparation for Clijsters as she heads to Indian Wells.
"In the beginning it took some time to find an aggressive game," Clijsters said. "If you're not feeling the ball 100 per cent, it's very hard. I kind of just had to look for my game a little bit, really look for my position on court. I got better as my match went on."
