Djokovic eyes career Grand Slam

Newly-crowned world No. 1 Novak Djokovic has set the bar higher after realising two lifelong ambitions at Wimbledon.

The No. 2 seed fulfilled his Wimbledon dream with victory over defending champion Rafael Nadal in the final at the All England Club, and a stunning start to the 2011 campaign has seen him leapfrog the Spaniard at the top of the world rankings.

And after achieving his two main goals within the space of three days, the Serb has now set his sights on winning the US Open later this summer.

A win in New York, where he reached the final last year, would be Djokovic's fourth grand slam title - and he believes his ascent to the top of the rankings is only the beginning.

"I am going to have some new dreams - I have already achieved the two most important goals in my life here in Wimbledon," Djokovic told Sky Sports News. "I definitely want to come back for some more, I want to win more grand slams.

"I want to stay No. 1 as long as I can, try to win the US Open, the French Open, maybe an Olympic medal. I have a lot more to prove."

Djokovic's ascent to the top of the world rankings ends a seven-year dominance between Roger Federer and Nadal, and he believes his breakthrough is good news for men's tennis.

"Times are changing, me winning Wimbledon and the Australian Open, and me playing Murray in the final of the Australian Open, it's something that tennis has not experienced in the last five or six years because Nadal and Federer have always been playing the finals of each major," Djokovic said.

"It's good for the sport to have some new faces coming up, winning major events - I think it makes our sport even more attractive."

However Djokovic warned of the dangers of writing off 16-time grand slam champion Federer, while he is confident Andy Murray will end his grand slam duck.

"I would not write off Federer," he said. "I think he is still one of the best players in the world - he still plays great tennis - he showed that at the French Open and he wants to win more majors. You have Andy Murray who has been playing really well the last three months - he needs to make the final step in the grand slams, but I am sure he will."
