Profile

Primarily a football ground, Soweto's Orlando Stadium is the home of Orlando Pirates FC and served as a training base during the FIFA World Cup in 2010.

That same year it entered the rugby world, hosting the Bulls' Super 14 semi-final and final as their home ground, Loftus Versfeld, had been re-appropriated for football.

The stadium re-opened in 2008 - having been founded in 1959 - after a complete refurbishment worth R280million, with a capacity of 40,000.
