Australia and Argentina will meet for the first time since the opening game in the 2003 Rugby World Cup when they go head-to-head at Skilled Park on the Gold Coast on Saturday night.

The Wallabies powered to a 24-8 victory on that occasion to increase their all-time advantage that currently stands at 17 victories to the Pumas' four.

The first meeting between the two sides took place in 1979 when Argentina claimed a 24-13 victory in Buenos Aires. They shared that series with the Wallabies but have been second best by some way in the years since with their most recent victory - an 18-16 success in Buenos Aires - coming 15 years ago.

Australia are the only one of the three southern hemisphere giants to have tasted defeat at the hands of the Pumas but will be chasing a fifth straight victory over their South American rivals on Saturday night.
