Wallabies kick off into the breeze through Bernard Foley. They go short in the middle and Israel Folau flies high to regather the ball. Attacking 5m lineout. Australia put five phases going right, and they go back left and Matt Toomua feeds Israel Folau with a short ball. Front-foot ball and pace and Australia had massive numbers to their advantage. Try awarded only after TMO checked lazy runners and whether they impeded Morne Steyn. Great start Australia.

Australia collect the restart easily and clear deep into Boks territory. Australia started as quickly last time in Auckland but seem to have more intensity tonight.

South Africa win the lineout and pick and go, only to be penalised for not releasing in midfield on first run of game. Nick Phipps taps and goes, but Australia go nowhere. RSA penalised at the next ruck for hands, and this time Australia clear into Boks territory.

The half comes to an end with Willie le Roux kicking out. Neither side dominant, but you think Australia, playing into the breeze, will be content enough to be just three points down. Now they just need to play a fraction slower. More speed, less haste.

South Africa are riding momentum and you just wonder if the next 10 metres could be telling - especially as Bernard Foley kicks out on the full from the restart. Australia are digging a hole for themselves.
