Matt Giteau has "brought down a curtain" on his international career after his latest snub by the Wallabies coaching team.

Giteau has earned 92 caps for the Wallabies but has been out of the Australia mix since their shock 32-23 defeat to Samoa prior to the 2011 World Cup. But he has been in sensational form for Toulon in the Top 14 Orange this season and had previously hinted that he could be keen to pull on the green and gold jersey of Australia again if required.

But he does not seem to be on coach Robbie Deans' radar and Giteau admits that he will not play for Australia again while Deans is in charge. "Yes, I have brought a curtain down on my chances of ever playing for my country again," Giteau said. "But with the coach who is in charge of them at the moment, I don't have much of a chance of being called up in any case.

"Even if I had returned to Australia, a condition of being available again for selection, I would maybe not have been recalled. Thus I decided to stay at Toulon, where I am flourishing. But I remain a devoted supporter of the Australian team and I still have a lot of friends in the squad.

"After next Saturday's game against Clermont, I will leave for a fortnight's holiday in Australia with my wife and son."

Giteau's not the only fly-half to have fallen out with Deans. Quade Cooper has also had a very public spate with the Wallabies coaching staff and Giteau has some sympathy with the Reds fly-half.

"Quade wanted to express how unhappy he was," said Giteau. "He has since apologised. I also experienced difficult moments at international level, I didn't make the last World Cup. Robbie is as he is.

"The coaches like certain players and others less. It has always been the case. I don't enter into the plans of Robbie."
