Pontypridd have been forced to cancel Saturday's friendly against Blackwood as several of their squad struggle to recover from minor injuries sustained in Tuesday's bruising encounter with Harlequins.

The most serious casualty is second row will James who suffered a shoulder injury and could miss the first six weeks of league action. Several other players picked up more minor knocks including flankers Dale McIntosh (groin strain) and Mathew Lloyd (eye injury), and prop Nalu Ta`u with a thigh strain.

These latest injuries add to the already long list of unavailable players, including Richard Parks, Richard Field, Robert Sidoli, Gareth Wyatt and John Colderley.

The club decided to cancel the friendly game in an effort to give the squad as long as possible to recover before the first league encounter, against Swansea in a weeks time, a game that will kick off at 6pm and be shown on S4C.
