WRU secure Vale's away fixtures

The Wales Rugby Union have stepped in to secure Ebbw Vale's presence in this year's European Shield.

The Celtic League club issued a warning last week that due to their financial circumstances they would not be able to fulfil their away fixtures in the competition.

The club have now agreed an aid package with the Welsh Rugby Union, which will allow them to honour away fixtures in the competition against French clubs Perigueux and Dax.

As an emergency measure, the WRU will bring forward payments it would have made to Ebbw Vale later in the year - ensuring Vale are given a cash injection immediately.
