South Africa have added recently-named Junior World Player of the Year Handre Pollard to their squad for the one-off Test again Scotland next Sunday.

Pollard, who on Friday led South Africa U20s to the runners-up spot at the Junior World Championships, is joined by experienced hooker Adriaan Strauss in the list of additions to the squad for the clash in Port Elizabeth.

Strauss is a Springbok regular but has been suspended for the past three matches, which saw South Africa defeat a World XV before completing back-to-back victories over Wales in a two-Test series.

Springbok head coach Heyneke Meyer has released seven players - all of whom ply their trade in England and France - from the squad that faced Wales.

The one-off match against Scotland falls outside the International Rugby Board's official Test window, so the Springbok management has been forced to negotiate the release of players. It is understood the English and French clubs have exercised their right to recall their players.

Gurthrö Steenkamp, Schalk Brits, Bakkies Botha, Francois Louw, Morné Steyn, Wynand Olivier and Bryan Habana are the men returning home.

"I've always rated Handre very highly and with Morne returning to France and Johan Goosen struggling with a knee injury, we decided to bring him in," Meyer said.

"Adriaan has been with us since June 2012 and has played in every Test in the last two seasons. He knows our structures well and will slot back in with no hassle.

"We will still travel to Port Elizabeth with a strong squad and will only consider calling up more replacements if necessitated by injury. The players in the squad who have not yet featured in one of our three matches this month have worked very hard."
