Former Williams chief race engineer Xevi Pujolar will be Jean-Eric Vergne's race engineer at Toro Rosso this season.

Pujolar joined Toro Rosso over the winter having had one year as chief race engineer at Williams following his promotion at the start of the 2013 season. Speaking to the Toro Rosso website about his winter training regime, Vergne revealed he is working with a new trainer as well as Pujolar.

"There have been other changes to the professional group around me, including the fact I will have a new race engineer, Francisco Javier Pujolar, because my previous one, Phil Charles is switching to the role of chief engineer this year," Vergne said.

Pujolar previously worked as Pastor Maldonado's race engineer at Williams in 2012. His departure from the team has opened the door for Rob Smedley to make a potential switch from Ferrari.
