2004
South Africa secured the Tri-Nations title with an exciting 23-19 victory over Australia in Durban. A try from Lote Tuqiri helped the Wallabies into a 7-3 lead at the interval but the Springboks took control of the game with 20 unanswered points after the re-start through two converted tries, from Victor Matfield and Joe van Niekerk, and two penalties from the boot of Percy Montgomery. However, the Wallabies launched a stirring late fightback, registering tries through Stirling Mortlock and George Smith as South Africa's discipline began to betray them with both Montgomery and Breyton Paulse picking up yellow cards in the closing ten minutes. The Boks held, though, on to claim only their second Tri-Nations title - and first since 1998.

1993
Nick Farr-Jones made his final appearance for the Wallabies, playing his part in a 19-12 win over the Springboks in Sydney. The scrum-half, who made his debut in a 19-3 victory over England at Twickenham in 1984, won a total of 63 caps and most memorably led the Wallabies to the 1991 Rugby World Cup crown.

1999
Argentina claimed their first major Test win in Britain with a shock 31-22 victory over Scotland at Murrayfield. Winger Octavio Bartolucci weighed in with two tries for the Pumas while Gonzalo Quesada was his usual reliable self with the boot, landing two conversions, three penalties and a drop-goal.

1965
New Zealand claimed a 13-0 victory over South Africa at Dunedin to take a 2-0 series lead. Ron Rangi, Bruce McLeod and Kel Tremain scored the three tries for Wilson Whineray's All Blacks.

1937
Springbok captain Phil Nel inspired his side to an impressive 23-8 victory over Canterbury at Lancaster park in Christchurch.

1946
Australia slumped to a 32-19 defeat by North Auckland in the opening game of their tour of New Zealand, in what was the first rugby tour after the second world war.

1962
Jim Boyce bagged a hat-trick in the Wallabies' 28-6 victory over Horowhenua at Levin.
