Springboks head coach Peter de Villiers has added four new names to his national planning camp prior to the Rugby World Cup in September.

Racing Metro's Frans Steyn, Lions fly-half Butch James, Ulster's Ruan Pienaar and Cheetahs No.8 Ashley Johnson have all linked up with the squad in Durban to talk through logistical preparations for the forthcoming international season.

Steyn, James and Pienaar all had overseas commitments when the first camp convened in mid-May in Cape Town.

"The fact that a player may not have been included in this group does not mean they are out of the running for the international season by any means," De Villiers said.

"The first session was designed to get an expanded group onto the same page and this reduced group with senior players, and one or two newcomers, is designed to go into more detail."
