Australia coach Robbie Deans has fixed his eyes firmly on a first victory against the All Blacks in Auckland for 25 years following the Wallabies victory over South Africa on Saturday.

The Wallabies have not defeated New Zealand in Auckland since their 1986 Bledisloe Cup triumph, leaving them with a record of just four victories in 22 Tests in the city. And with the Wallabies having lost 10 of their last 11 matches against the All Blacks - a run which was only halted in Hong Kong late last year - Australia face a tough task at Eden Park on August 6.

But following a ruthless performance against the Springboks, Deans believes the time could not be better to overturn a disappointing record.

''It's great we have a week to regroup, so that we can really focus on this match,'' Deans told the Sydney Morning Herald. ''It's a key game for us now. We haven't had a lot of success at Eden Park, but now [we] have a great opportunity to really target that game, and make the most of it.''

Deans was particularly pleased with Australia's dominance at the breakdown, which allowed half-backs Will Genia and Quade Cooper to pick holes in the Springboks defence.

''We were more effective in the collisions and, as a result of that, were able to get into the game ourselves,'' he said. ''We also denied South Africa that ability, because the boys defended well and took a lot of pressure.

''As the South Africans were forced to work so hard, we sapped a lot of energy out of their legs, and when we turned ball over, there was scope to attack. We also had a few days to prepare with a group who have some background together. That was an advantage.''

Australia, who began a 10-day training camp on Monday , are confident that fullback Kurtley Beale will have recovered from an ankle injury in time to face the All Blacks.
