Australia centre Rob Horne is set to make his comeback playing for Southern Districts in Sydney on Saturday - raising the prospects of a return to the Wallabies ranks in time for the Rugby World Cup.

The Waratahs centre has played six Tests for the Wallabies but his progress has been hampered by injuries, the most recent of which was an elbow injury that ended his Super Rugby campaign.

However Horne is set to make his comeback in Sydney club ranks and, while Wallabies coach Robbie Deans is happy with his midfield options at present with Pat McCabe and Adam Ashley-Cooper impressing against South Africa last Saturday, he could yet force his way back into the squad.

'He's not part of the immediate squad at the moment, but is a player who might become available at some point,'' Deans told the Sydney Morning Herald.

Meanwhile scrum-half Luke Burgess and prop Salesi Ma'afu are expected to be fit for the Tri-Nations match against the Springboks in Durban on August 13. While the Wallabies squad could be further bolstered on their return from South Africa with the anticipated comebacks of prop James Slipper, hooker Tatafu Polota-Nau, No.8 Wycliff Palu and winger Drew Mitchell.
