Springboks coach Peter de Villiers has made a key positional change ahead of Saturday's Tri-Nations clash with New Zealand.

According to widespread reports, fly-half Morne Steyn will start at fullback against the All Blacks while current 15 Pat Lambie will switch into the outside-half berth. The change was revealed by the South African newspaper Beeld following the Springboks training session on Thursday where Lambie controlled the backline.

If the change does go ahead, it will be the first time both players have started in their new positions for the national side. Steyn - who has 28 caps to his name - has started all of his matches at fly-half but has backed himself at fullback saying: "I may not have played many games at fullback, but I'm confident that I could make a success of it."

Steyn has experience of fullback having played two games there for the Bulls during the 2008 Super Rugby season while Lambie - who came off the bench against Australia last Saturday -shone in the 2010 Currie Cup final from fly-half contributing 25 points in the process. It is expected that Steyn will retain his kicking duties for the clash.
