McCalman Wallabies doubt for Rugby Championship

Ben McCalman is in doubt for the start of the Rugby Championship after being diagnosed with a fractured cheekbone. He sustained the injury playing for Western Force against the Brumbies on Friday, and he will miss his last-placed team's final match of the Super Rugby season against Melbourne Rebels on Friday.

McCalman played nine Tests last seaosn, including every minute of all four matches on the end-of-year tour against Wales, France, Ireland and England under Michael Cheika.

The Wallabies begin their countdown to the Rugby World Cup when they host South Africa in Brisbane on July 18 in their opening match of the abbreviated Rugby Championship.
