South Africa centre Jaque Fourie has retired from international rugby.

Fourie, who is currently playing in Japan, has decided to make himself unavailable for Springboks duty so he can focus on his club career. Fourie, who was an integral part of the South Africa side that won the 2007 World Cup, finishes his Springboks career with 32 tries in 73 Tests.

"I thought hard about my career status and decided to focus more on my career with the Steelers Kobelco than to make myself available for international rugby," Fourie told Die Burger. "It was a difficult decision to retire from internationals, but I look forward to seeing what the future holds for me and my family."
