South Africa geared up for the Rugby Championship by beating the World XV 39-10 at Newlands, Cape Town thanks to a Willie Le Roux hattrick.

Playing a side full of Toulon players, including the Armitage brothers Steffan and Delon, the Springboks were comfortably ahead by half time, with scores from Damian de Allende, Eben Etzebeth and Le Roux.

Handrie Pollard added two conversions and a penalty as South Africa led 22-10 at the break - the World XV scoring through a Craig Burden try and a Mike Harris penalty.

The Boks' scoring slowed after half time but full-back Le Roux added his second latching onto a wonderful offload from Bryan Habana.

A few minutes later and he had completed his hattrick, shortly before being sent to the sin bin, diving over having gathered a long Jean de Villiers pass, who returned from a serious knee-injury.

The victory was completed by late converted tries from Cobus Reinach, who connected with a flowing run from Pollard, and de Allende whose chip, chase and regather sealed an easy win.
