Ruan Pienaar is focused on combating the threat posed by opposite number Will Genia when his Springboks side go up against Australia in Brisbane on Saturday.

Following another demoralising loss to the All Blacks last weekend, Pienaar has been recalled to the starting side at scrum-half in place of the misfiring Ricky Januarie and will go toe-to-toe with Genia, the man he calls the best in the Super 14.

The Reds halfback has been out of action since breaking his thumb against England in June but, having trained through the pain barrier, he has won an immediate recall as Robbie Deans looks to continue the Boks' barren spell.

Genia's Reds team-mate, Quade Cooper, has again been named in the No.10 jersey, with Matt Giteau at 12, and the Springboks must hope that duo do not immediately hit the stride that made them the most dangerous pairing in Super Rugby this season.

"When I've played against him, for me he was by miles the best nine in the Super 14. I thought he was outstanding together with Quade Cooper. It's a big challenge for not only myself but the whole team to keep an eye on him," Pienaar told The Sydney Morning Herald.

"Will and Quade have played together for a year or two and I really think they've lead the Reds side well this year. With Matt Giteau outside of them, they've got a lot of experience."
