Australia coach Robbie Deans has been forced into a late change ahead of his side's Tri-Nations clash with South Africa in Brisbane on Saturday.

Western Force flanker Matt Hodgson has been ruled out of the Suncorp Stadium clash after suffering a groin strain during training on Tuesday that is set to sideline him for a week. Hodgson had been set to start on the bench against the Springboks but his place has now been taken by his Force team-mate Ben McCalman who is now in line for his international debut.

"Matt did it (the injury) very late running in Tuesday's session," commented Deans. "Benny's got a good handle on what's required and he doesn't want for any willingness
