South Africa's Jaque Fourie and Australia's Quade Cooper have been cited for dangerous tackles following the Wallabies' 30-13 Tri-Nations victory over the Springboks in Brisbane. Fourie was sin-binned in the second minute of the Suncorp Stadium clash for a spear/tip tackle on Wallabies No.8 Richard Brown while Cooper also saw yellow for a similar challenge on Springboks fly-half Morne Steyn in the second half. Citing Commissioner Steve Hinds of New Zealand charged Cooper and Fourie under Law 10.4(e) following the game that brought an end to a disastrous tour for the Springboks. Lock Bakkies Botha was sin-binned during the opening loss to New Zealand and was subsequently banned for nine weeks for a separate incident - a head-butt on All Blacks scrum-half Jimmy Cowan. Lock Danie Rossouw saw yellow against New Zealand in Wellington while wing Jean de Villiers was suspended for two-weeks following the same game for a dangerous tackle on All Blacks winger Rene Ranger. And in their latest outing, prop BJ Botha was also sent to the sin-bin for deliberately slowing the ball. Springboks coach Peter de Villiers has also courted controversy for comments he made in the wake of his side's back-to-back defeats to the All Blacks where he appeared to suggest that New Zealand's victories were part of a conspiracy designed to generate more support ahead of the World Cup next year. He has since attempted to clarify his comments that were made during an interview on Australian TV. © Scrum.com
