Koscheck set to fight at middleweight, could get Herman

Josh Koscheck has confirmed he will return to the Octagon at UFC 139, most likely as a middleweight.

Koscheck has spent nearly his entire career as a welterweight, but he has seemingly gone as far as he can at 170lbs whilst Georges St-Pierre remains champion. Twice Koscheck has lost to the Canadian, the most recent of which was one of the most one-sided decisions seen in the UFC.

As a result, Koscheck is likely to return to his roots in order to breathe new life into his career. The AKA man burst onto the UFC scene as a middleweight on season one of The Ultimate Fighter, and now he will revisit that weight class.

"My next fight is in San Jose ...," Koscheck said on his Twitter account. "Good chance fighting at 185lbs. Should know real soon who."

San Jose plays host to UFC 139 on November 19, headlined by Cain Velasquez's maiden heavyweight title defence against Junior Dos Santos. Koscheck has confessed he would like to fight former TUF 1 star Stephan Bonnar, although Ed Herman is the most likely opponent.

Koscheck has proven in the past he is more than capable dealing with bigger opponents, notably submitting Anthony Johnson at UFC 106. A switch to 185lbs would also end talk about a possible fight with team-mate Jon Fitch, who is one of only a few remaining top welterweights that Koscheck is yet to face.
