Akiyama wants to be St-Pierre's apprentice

Yoshihiro Akiyama is hoping to train with welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre after dropping down to 170 lbs.
Akiyama, who is 1-3 in the UFC, considered retirement after being knocked out by Vitor Belfort last month, but has now set his sights on making his welterweight debut when the UFC returns to Japan in February.
Having recently closed his gym in Japan, Akiyama intends to move to North America and has expressed his desire to work as St-Pierre's "apprentice".
He is hoping to reignite his UFC career after three straight defeats to Chris Leben, Michael Bisping and Belfort.
