Anthony Pettis and Joe Lauzon appear to be set for a February tussle after Pettis agreed on Friday to wait for his lightweight rival.

Pettis and Lauzon are two of the 155lb division's most exciting fighters, both vying for a title shot in 2012. Lauzon's last outing saw him choke out Melvin Guillard at UFC 136, while Pettis saw off Jeremy Stephens on the same card.

"Showtime" was quick to challenge Lauzon after UFC 136, and the offer was later accepted by J-Lau. However, Lauzon has since stated that he can only take the fight if Pettis is willing to wait until February.

That has now moved closer to becoming a reality after Pettis responded on Twitter, writing: "Looks like I'm waiting until Feb."

The UFC is yet to officially confirm the fight, but it has all the hallmarks of the type of barnburner that Dana White simply cannot resist.
