Strikeforce welterweight champion Nick Diaz regrets his decision to pass up a boxing contract in order to sign with the UFC.

Diaz had a deal in place for a boxing match, but turned it down for an eight-fight UFC contract - and a shot at Georges St-Pierre at UFC 137.

However, the bout with St-Pierre was stripped away from Diaz after he failed to attend press conferences promoting the event.

Diaz is now scheduled to meet BJ Penn this weekend, but wishes he had accepted the boxing offer when he had the chance.

"If I had my chance to do it over again, I would have gone back to the boxing contract," Diaz told USA Today. "It would have paid me more money ... Later on, I'm sure they would have had me back here."
