UFC officials have moved quickly to quash reports that Anderson Silva and Vitor Belfort will act as coaches on the inaugural TUF Brazil series.

Reports emerged from Extra Globo on Monday that the UFC would use its two biggest Brazilian names to drive its first foray into Brazilian reality television. UFC president Dana White earlier this week confirmed TUF Brazil would happen in 2012.

However, it would seem a strange move for Silva and Belfort to be pitched in direct competition so soon after the middleweight champion beat his compatriot. Indeed, there is little momentum for a rematch following the first-round knockout of Belfort at UFC 126.

MMA Junkie claims a UFC official has stated in no uncertain terms that there has not even been one meeting about the proposed coaches for the series, which is supposed to take place in March.

Silva is currently recovering from a shoulder problem, and a coaching season would keep him sidelined for six months. However, that may not be such an issue after the champion revealed that he plans to keep fighting for another "six to seven years".
