Belfort to fight Rumble Johnson at UFC 142

Vitor Belfort and Anthony Johnson will form a potentially explosive middleweight contest at UFC 142, according to UFC officials on Tuesday.

Rumble Johnson has long been considered too big for the welterweight division, failing to make weight on more than one occasion. Now he steps up to 185lbs to meet one of the most lethal strikers in the sport.

Belfort has won six of his last seven fights, only losing to Anderson Silva. Of those six wins, five have come via KO or TKO.

Johnson brings knockout power too though. Charlie Brenneman was the latest to feel his power after a thumping head kick in October, but Belfort represents an altogether different challenge.

UFC 142 will take place on January 14 in Brazil, and also features Jose Aldo v Chad Mendes.
