Dana White is on the verge of announcing the UFC on Fox 2 fights, to take place in Chicago at the start of 2012.

The UFC president has already previously confirmed that the event will take place on January 28 at Chicago's United Center. He also admitted a title bout was highly unlikely.

However, White promised to announce four big fights to air on the UFC's official debut on Fox. The recent Cain Velasquez v Junior Dos Santos bout was a bonus airing that took place before the contract with Fox kicked in.

White tweeted on Tuesday: "Taking off from LA to Vegas. Let me get these contracts signed and I will announce the FOX Chicago fights!"

It is rumoured Rampage Jackson will figure on the card. The former light-heavyweight champion had been hoping to appear on the UFC 144 card in Japan during February, but a disgusted tweet by the veteran on Tuesday would appear to suggest he is being lined up for bigger things.

Rampage is one of the UFC's major cross-over stars, having played a lead role in the blockbuster A-Team movie. Should he be selected on the Fox card, Stephan Bonnar appears to have lined himself up as the opponent.

Also reported for the event is Chael Sonnen, who is keen to remain active while Anderson Silva recovers from injury. A bout with Mark Munoz, 4-0 in his last four fights, is rumoured but by no means official, while Demetrious Johnson v Eddie Wineland is also expected to feature.
