Demian Maia has revealed he is talking with the UFC over a possible appearance on the UFC 142 card in Brazil.

Maia returned to winning ways against Jorge Santiago at UFC 136, pulling out a unanimous decision victory. The Brazilian is now 3-1 from his last four fights.

With Chael Sonnen and Mark Munoz seemingly on course for a meeting early next year, Maia could become an important figure in the middleweight future of Michael Bisping, who fights Jason Miller on Saturday.

For now, Maia does not know who his next opponent will be, but he admits he would love to be on the UFC 142 card in Brazil. The UFC is looking into it, so the submissions specialist will remain patient.

"I'm not that worried about where I'm fighting and when; however, what I wanted was to fight until February to keep my rhythm," Maia told Tatame.

"It'd be good to fight in Rio and we're doing some negotiations, but it depends on some things about UFC, so let it be. I know I'll eventually fight in Brazil.

"If it's not on this one, there'll be another one in Sao Paulo, probably in the middle of the year. I guess there'll be three events in Brazil next year, so it'd be a natural thing for me to fight here."
