Bedford replaces Mighty Mouse on UFC on Fox 2 card

Johnny Bedford will replace Demetrious Johnson on the UFC on Fox 2 card following the recent announcement of a flyweight tournament next year.

Johnson had originally been scheduled to fight former WEC bantamweight champion Eddie Wineland in Chicago, but he has been pulled in order to face Ian McCall in the semi-finals of the inaugural flyweight competition on March 3.

The move for Mighty Mouse will breathe new life into his hopes of becoming a UFC champion. His first attempt at UFC gold fell short when he was simply too small to defeat Dominick Cruz.

As a result, Bedford will step in to build on his debut win over Louis Gaudinot which, ironically, was largely due to a major size advantage. He takes on an opponent in Wineland who has lost his last two.

UFC on Fox 2 is headlined by Rashad Evans v Phil Davis, and also boasts Chael Sonnen v Mark Munoz and Michael Bisping v Demian Maia.
