The war of words is slowly heating up between Michael Bisping and Chael Sonnen, with the Brit labelling his rival a "failure".

Bisping and Sonnen have been quick to get to work with the verbal sparring since their hastily arranged bout was made for UFC on Fox 2. The Brit claims his rival will definitely get submitted if he goes for the takedown, while Sonnen says he wants to smash the "snot-nosed Brit".

The American's latest remark was to liken Bisping to Pip, a mistreated and awkward British character in animated comedy South Park. Clearly Sonnen's quip failed to impress Bisping, who responded in Chicago Now.

"To be honest Chael Sonnen is… a failed politician," Bisping commented. "He also failed at being a champion because he had many times in the past to achieve that and didn't succeed.

"Honestly, I would have expected something a bit better from him than just calling me Pip. He could have done a hell of a lot better and frankly I'm disappointed.

"He failed as a politician and his first insult was also a failure."

The pair's next bout of verbals is expected to come on Friday when they take part in a UFC on Fox 2 conference call.
