Henderson will wait for Jones v Evans winner

UFC president Dana White has confirmed there is little point matching Dan Henderson in imaginary pairings, because the veteran wants to wait for Jon Jones.

Henderson finds himself in a state of limbo after Rashad Evans beat Phil Davis at UFC on Fox 2. That victory books Evans the next shot at Jones' light-heavyweight title in April at UFC 145.

Had Evans lost, Henderson would have been propelled into the spotlight, but instead he must make the choice whether to take another fight or wait on the sidelines for the outcome of Jones v Evans.

Lyoto Machida has put himself forward as a potential opponent, knowing victory would catapult him back into the mix after defeat to Jones last time out. But White revealed on Thursday that Henderson seems content to wait.

"Dan Henderson's in a position right now where it looks like he wants to wait for Jon Jones," White confirmed.

The UFC president also revealed that the reason he did not attend Sunday's UFC on Fox 2 post-fight press conference is because he may have said something he later would have regretted.

"Yeah, I wasn't in the mood," White said. "I can not go if I don't want to. I usually try to skip press conferences where I know I'm going to, you know, [lose my temper]."
