Velasquez to fight Bigfoot Silva at UFC 146

Cain Velasquez will now fight Antonio Silva in the UFC 146 co-main event after his initial bout with Frank Mir was scrapped.

Velasquez v Mir was disturbed when Alistair Overeem was pulled from the main event heavyweight title fight with Junior Dos Santos after a failed drug test. As a result, Mir was promoted to top billing against Dos Santos.

The shake-up has now continued with news that Silva will shift up the card to fight Velasquez, who is making his first appearance since losing the belt. Silva had been scheduled to take on Roy Nelson.

Nelson is expected to stay on the card, but a new opponent is yet to be announced.
