Penn's told me he wants to fight again - White
UFC president Dana White commented on many topics over the course of the weekend, but perhaps the most telling quotes were on the future of BJ Penn.
Penn, the former UFC lightweight and welterweight champion, has been retired since he lost to Nick Diaz in his last outing. And recent noises coming out of the Prodigy's camp suggested that situation would remain.
"I haven't made any plans to come back and fight again," Penn said in a recent interview on Fuel TV. "Dana White has called me a few times, but I'm staying retired.
"I can't see the scenario that would get me to come back. I'm going to sit back and watch all the other guys kick butt in the Octagon."
However, White remains a big fan of Penn, who is arguably the best lightweight in UFC history. With Frankie Edgar - the man who beat Penn twice - no longer the 155lb king, the window is open for the Prodigy to launch another assault on the lightweight belt, and White expects that to happen.
"I heard some sh*t that he said he was going to retire and all this stuff," White told MMA Junkie.
"I talked to him, and he's like, 'I want to fight again.'"
