The UFC has confirmed two high-profile fights, with Mauricio Shogun Rua set to fight Thiago Silva and recent Bellator defector Hector Lombard earning a debut against Brian Stann.

The fight between Shogun and Silva was confirmed by Dana White on his Twitter account, with MMAJunkie later reporting that the light-heavyweight contest will take place at UFC 149 in Calgary, Canada on July 21.

Both fighters are coming off defeats, with Shogun having been beaten by Dan Henderson in November and Silva losing to Alexander Gustafsson in Sweden last month after returning to the Octagon following a 15-month absence.

White also confirmed that Lombard, the former Bellator middleweight champion, will take his UFC bow against Stann - in a contest likely to headline UFC on Fox 4 in Los Angeles on August 4.

Lombard is unbeaten in 25 fights stretching back to 2006, most recently reeling off eight successive wins to complete his Bellator contract.

Stann should provide a good measure of Lombard's UFC standing; he has won four of his last five fights - with the only defeat coming to Chael Sonnen. His most recent contest saw him beat Alessio Sakara earlier in April.
