Gonzaga & Dunham out of 146, Herman & Varner in
The seemingly cursed UFC 146 card has had two further significant changes forced upon it, with news Gabriel Gonzaga and Evan Dunham have had to pull out of the May 26 event.
Gonzaga had been set to fight Roy Nelson in the heavyweight division, but injury means the Brazilian has had to withdraw. In his place comes Dave Herman, who is coming off a loss to Stefan Struve having won his previous three fights.
Herman is Nelson's third scheduled opponent after he was initially matched with Antonio Silva. Alistair Overeem's withdrawal due to a failed drug test saw Silva promoted on the card.
Dunham, meanwhile, had been preparing for a lightweight battle with Edson Barboza - the winner of which would have propelled himself towards title contention. However, Barboza - who produced the Knockout of the Year to date against Terry Etim - will now meet former WEC champion Jamie Varner.
Varner's last fight in the UFC came back in 2007, when he posted a 1-1 record. More recently he has won three of his previous four fights.
UFC 146 is headlined by Junior Dos Santos' heavyweight title defence against Frank Mir.
