UFC president Dana White has confirmed, as expected, that Jon Jones will fight Dan Henderson at UFC 151 on September 1.

Henderson was already the accepted No. 1 contender to Jones' belt after he waited patiently for his title shot as the champion dealt with Rashad Evans. Now front of the queue, Henderson will aim to do what no man - barring a disqualification - has achieved in Jones' incredible career to date, by beating the 205lb king.

Jones is rapidly en route to becoming the most dominant light-heavyweight champion in UFC history. Wins over Rampage Jackson, Lyoto Machida and Evans have seen him defend his belt on three occasions. Victory over Henderson would be No. 4, taking him within one of the record held by Tito Ortiz.

The only doubt surrounding the fight was the date, but that has now been clarified for September 1.

The announcement was confirmed on White's Twitter and means Jones is likely to fight only three times this year - not the four he originally predicted.
