Sonnen can use synthetic testosterone pre-Silva

Chael Sonnen has been permitted to make use of synthetic testosterone ahead of his meeting with Anderson Silva at UFC 148 in July.

Nevada State Athletic Commission officials voted unanimously on Monday to let Sonnen continue with a course of bi-weekly injections of testosterone.

He will be subjected to more rigorous testing in the run-up to his meeting with Silva in Las Vegas, and must remain within Nevada's permitted range of testosterone levels.

Sonnen first used testosterone treatments in 2008 after he was told by a doctor he may be suffering with low levels of the hormone.
