The UFC was hit by a double injury blow in the welterweight division over the weekend, with Jon Fitch and Thiago Alves both forced out of their respective bouts.

Fitch reportedly has a knee injury and will not fight at UFC on Fuel 4 against Aaron Simpson. A replacement opponent for Simpson at the July 11 event is yet to be named.

Meanwhile, UFC 149 has been robbed of Thiago Alves v Siyar Bahadurzada after the Muay Thai man was forced off the card. Alves has since revealed he will have surgery on Tuesday, although to what part of his body remains unknown.

Bahadurzada had initially been a replacement for Yoshihiro Akiyama, but now it is he awaiting a new rival for July 21.

UFC 149 is headlined by Jose Aldo v Erik Koch and also features Michael Bisping against Tim Boetsch.
