GSP v Condit, Hendricks v Kampmann on tap for 154
UFC 154 may well prove the event that finally sorts out the top of the welterweight ladder after Dana White revealed Johny Hendricks v Martin Kampmann might feature as the co-main event to Georges St-Pierre's title defence against Carlos Condit.
St-Pierre's long awaited return from a serious knee injury is anticipated to arrive on November 17 at Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada. Barring a setback, he will fight interim champ Condit to unify the championship once again.
However, the UFC is learning its lesson from the plethora of injuries that have occurred in 2012, and Hendricks v Kampmann is being lined up for the same card. Such a situation would mean the UFC has a ready-made replacement should either of St-Pierre and Condit be forced to withdraw.
Kampmann booked his date for a No. 1 contender bout by knocking out Jake Ellenberger last week. Hendricks, meanwhile, took out perennial contender Josh Koscheck.
White also revealed UFC 152 is likely to be headlined by Junior Dos Santos v Cain Velasquez, with Rory MacDonald v BJ Penn the co-main event.
